SHORT DESCRIPTIONS OF COURSES
Lift rides during the course are included in the prices. All course participants can rent an equipment package from the rental company for two hours (course session) for 16 euros. WERNERIN ESIKOULU 4-5 years of age (skiis) We have created 2 x 90-minute long Werneri’s Preschool for 4-5 year-olds, which helps in taking the first steps on skis in a group of the same age. It is important that the child experiences feelings of realization and success in the right reference environment and at the right goal level. The goal of the preschool is to create readiness for LumiWerneri course, stopping at the marked place and the first turns from the mid exit point of the children’s slope carpet lift. We can also assess whether the child is ready for LumiWerneri course during this season. On this course, at least one adult is required to participate, as “mental support and helping hands”, assisting in for example getting on and off the carpet lift. For this task, you only need warm clothes and waterproof shoes. LAUTANAPEROT (snowboarding) is meant for children between 5-7 years, who have never snowboarded before. Course lenght is 2 x90min and runs on two consecutive days. Course includes getting to know the snowboard, sliding on the board and moving around with it. Participants will also learn about basic slope manners, carpet lift usage and slope safety. On this course, adults are more than welcome to follow the teaching, for help and mental support. LUMIWERNERI OSAT 1 JA 2: 5-12 years of age (beginners on skiis)
LUMIWERNERI course is intended for 5-12 year olds who are taking their first steps on alpine skis. The aim of the course is to learn basic skiing skills, smooth plow turns, use of Talma lifts, slope behavior and slope safety issues. If there are enough participants in a course, they will be divided into smaller groups according to age. OSA 1: First steps into alpine skiing. Starts from the very basics, with the idea that child has never been on skiis or at most has tried a bit before. Slope safety, moving around with skiis, basic stance, stopping, snow plough and first turns, carpet lift. OSA 2: Controlling speed, snow plough turn sequences and bringing skiis parallel, training slope children’s lift. VAUHTIWERNERI OSAT 1 JA 2: 6-14 years of age (continuation for LumiWerneri, on skiis)
VAUHTIWERNERI course is aimed at 6-14 year olds. One part is 2x100min long. Requirement for this course is either Lumiwerneri course or same level of skills and ability to use Talma’s front slope lifts. It is recommended to practise independently in between courses. The aim of this course is to proceed towards parallel skiing, learn more about technique and increase speed in skiing. OSA 1: LumiWerneri skills recap, turn sequences, parallel skiis turns, front slope, front slope lift. OSA 2: Further technique learning, alpine tracks in front slope, basics of carving turns. LAUTAWERNERI OSAT 1 JA 2: 8-12 years of age (beginners on snowboard)
LAUTAWERNERI Course is aimed for 8-12 year olds. The course is intended for snowboarding beginners or who have tried snowboarding a few times on their own. The aim of the course is to learn basic snowboarding skills, turn sequences, slope safety issues and the use of ski lifts during the course. OSA 1: First steps into snowboarding. Starts from the very basics, with the idea that child has never been on snowboard or at most has tried a bit before. Slope safety, moving around with snowboard, basic stance, weight transfer, stopping and first turns, carpet lift/children’s lift. OSA 2: Turn sequences and controlling the speed, controlled stopping, skills in controlling the board LAUTAWERNERI OSAT 3 JA 4: 8-14 years of age (continuation course on snowboard)
LAUTAWERNERIN OSAT 3 JA 4 courses for children aged 8-14 years. The basic requirement is the basic skill level of those who have taken the Snowboard Werneri courses part 1 and 2. The child can master Talma’s telescopic/button lifts. The goal of the course is smooth, speedy snowboarding and versatile control of snowboard handling skills. OSA 3: Smooth sliding turn sequences, switch snowboarding, basics of carving turns, front slope OSA 4: Carving turns, rythm, switch snowboarding in more difficult places, laerning more skills on snowboard

Skiing and snowboarding courses for teenagers and adults are usually on Saturday-Sunday weekends. The courses are held often at the same time as the Werneri courses. Basic courses for beginners and advanced level for those who have previously skied or boarded. It’s easier to be on the slopes with children when you know the same basics yourself. The minimum size of the course is five (5) people and the minimum age is 13 years. The goal of the course is to learn smooth skiing or snowboarding in easy conditions. The duration of the weekend course is 2×100 minutes. Teaching is in finnish. If you need teaching in another language, please choose private lesson instead of courses. Lift rides during the lessons are included in the prices. All course participants can rent an equipment package from the rental shop for two hours (course session) for 16 euros. Starter course Adult starter course is aimed at all the adults and teens that have had skis/board on their feet 0-1 times or have had a long break in skiing/snowboarding. After the course you can ski on easy slopes independently, know ski equipment, can use the ski lifts, do snowplough turns/first turns with snowboard and stop. In addition you will know the slope rules. Advanced level This course is meant after the starter course or with similar level of skills: – You can snowplough and stop and can use the lift independently – You know the slope rules in practise – You want to continue with this fun hobby to the next level. You will get good knowledge to ski with the kids as well as to travel to Lapland for skiing.
One day beginner courses
This season we have new one day courses (100min) for beginners aged 7-14 years on 6.1.25 and 17.2.25 for both alpine skis and snowboard. These function especially well as short introduction to skiing and snowboarding. On these courses we familiarize with the equipment and slope safety and take first steps into the world of alpine skiing or snowboarding. Teaching is in Finnish.
Freestyle skiing (skis)
Two day evening course for 7-14 old beginners in freestyle skiing in February 2025 (5.-12.2.). Course aim is to familiarise with safe freestyle skiing, including slope and park rules, precepts and tips for safely training tricks and some basics in jumps and rails. Course duration 2 x 100min, teaching in finnish.
